Virtual Health Hub first-in-the-nation
The provincial government has announced a ‘NASA-like’ command centre for virtual healthcare delivery.
The Virtual Healthcare Hub will deliver robotic ultrasonography and expand services as technology and training come online. Once established, technologies will be set up across the province to deliver services. Patient data will be sent back to the hub where it will be addressed by clinicians.
This Indigenous-led project will serve 30 communities to start, and will expand to 90. This is a first-in-the-nation project done in partnership with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology, the SHA, and University of Saskatchewan. In Indigenous, rural and northern communities, patients often have to travel for many hours for routine procedures.
Premier Scott Moe said, “We are pleased to be contributing to this innovative and groundbreaking facility. Collaboration between all levels of government with Indigenous communities and other partner organizations ensures that there is continuity in the delivery of health care services between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Saskatchewan.”
Minister of Health Everett Hindley and I joined Chief Darcy Bear moments ago to announce a first-of-its-kind in Canada Virtual Health Hub.

NDP call for investigation following Speaker’s allegations
The Saskatchewan NDP are calling for an official investigation after Speaker Randy Weekes alleged Government House Leader Jeremy Harrison harassed him and that he brought a gun into the legislature.
If you have tuned into the Evan Bray show this week, you likely would have heard the on-air commentator talking about the seriousness of the allegations made by Weekes last week. Bray told listeners that an investigation would clear things up for all those involved.
NDP leader Carla Beck said “an investigation into those very concerning allegations…is warranted.”
NDP MLA and Opposition Critic Meara Conway posted to social media that she wrote to the Chief Firearms Officer, Sergeant-at-Arms, and the head of the Legislative District Security Unit to look into the allegations.
With Jeremy Harrison missing in action & the Premier refusing to take any, people are still in the dark about allegations of bullying, intimidation, even guns in the Legislature.
Today I wrote to the Chief Firearms Officer, the LDSU, & the Sergeant-at-Arms in search of answers.

Weekes has not repeated the allegations of wrongdoing since last Thursday. Jeremy Harrison has not commented on the allegations and the government has said he is not available.
Premier Scott Moe said previously, “I did follow up a little bit with the member that many of accusations were directed at (Harrison). I’ve been informed that they are all unequivocally false.”
NDP Nominate Candidate in Regina Wascana Plains
The Saskatchewan NDP have nominated a candidate for Regina Wascana Plains.
Brent Blakley won a contested nomination last night at Tommy Douglas house. Blakley is a father and a recently retired teacher. Blakley taught for 35 years and continues to substitute teach with Regina Public Schools. He is an active volunteer in the community.
The Saskatchewan Party has held Wascana Plains since cabinet minister Christine Tell was first elected in 2007. The NDP’s Doreen Hamilton held the riding from 1991-2007. Tell has garnered over 60% of the vote in the past three elections. Tell was acclaimed as the Sask. Party’s candidate.
In the upcoming election, the boundary of the riding will change the makeup of the riding to be fully urban. The previous rural or suburban part of the riding will move to White City-Qu’Appelle.
Blakely is the 39th candidate nominated by the NDP. The next nomination will be the Sask. Party’s contested nomination meeting in Humboldt-Watrous on June 6.

Each week leading up to the 2024 election, The SKoop Political Briefing will highlight a constituency that has nominated a candidate from at least both major parties. Today, we look at Martensville-Blairmore. This is a new riding that includes the growing population of Saskatoon’s new Blairmore neighbourhood, as well as the town of Martensville, which has separated from the Martensville-Warman constituency.
The incumbent party: Jamie Martens is not elected provincially, but she is a City Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Martensville. She won a hotly-contested nomination earlier this year.
The challenger: The NDP held a contested nomination won by Tammy Pike. Pike is an active union worker.
The takeaway: This seat is a safe Saskatchewan Party win. With an enthusiastic and contested nomination race, members will be excited to work to elect Martens, who has already hit the ground running. The NDP will try and leverage its growing popularity in Saskatoon and existing members in what used to be part of Saskatoon Fairview.
