Another Saskatoon Councillor not running again
Hilary Gough, City of Saskatoon
Another Saskatoon City Councillor is not seeking re-election. Hilary Gough made the announcement late last week.
Councillor Gough, one of Saskatoonâs progressive councillors, has represented Ward 2 since 2016. Ward 2 includes the neighbourhoods of Riversdale, Pleasant Hill and Montgomery, located in Saskatoonâs west-central area.
In a statement, Gough said, âThe opportunity to represent the residents of Ward 2 for the last eight years has been a true honour. I am grateful to every person who I have had the opportunity to work alongside to build a stronger and more equitable Saskatoon.â
She now joins Mayor Charlie Clark and Councillors David Kirton and Sarina Gersher who have announced they will not be seeking another term.
Ward 2 is likely to be a hotly contested council race with Goughâs decision.

Premier Scott Moe speaks to the Estevan Chamber of Commerce (SaskToday/David Willberg)
After months of speculation, and a massive hint dropped at SUMA earlier this year, the Government of Saskatchewan has officially decided on the location of the provinceâs first SMR.
Premier Scott Moe addressed a crowd at the 120th anniversary of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce Thursday night.
Moe referenced his recent address to SUMA delegates and told the crowd, âI'm here today to probably put a little bit of meat on that bone. Up until today, SaskPower's been focused on really two regions on where they could locate an SMR. We don't have a lot of other options, so [Estevan] that's the path we're most certainly looking at.â
The project still needs to undergo an extensive review process and is not expected to be operational until 2034.
The Premier spoke on the Evan Bray Show on Friday and shared the message that within the Estevan area there are two sites the government is investigating including Boundary Dam and Rafferty Reservoir.

Minister, STF President respond to vote result, will get back to the bargaining table
After 55% of Saskatchewan teachers voted to reject a new contract offer, teachers and the provincial government are set to return to the bargaining table once again.
Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill addressed reporters on Friday and said, âWe are prepared to resume discussions with the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation immediately to define and move forward with binding arbitration so that we can all get an agreement done.â
STF President Samantha Becotte said that 90% of teachers voted in favour of allowing sanctions beyond the school year, âIf government is delaying the process in any way, not responding to what we have put forward and not providing a real commitment to come back with a renewed mandate, then we are left with no other option other than to apply sanctions.â
Bargaining is set to resume on Wednesday of this week. Both the Minister and STF president said that binding arbitration may be the next step if an agreement cannot be reached.
