The Saskatchewan Party is using some of its war chest funds to introduce new candidates to the public.
The party is currently running Facebook and Instagram ads and posting videos to X. The videos are roughly three minutes and are voiced over by the candidates describing who they are and why they are running.
The current ads boosted on Facebook include videos for new candidates Jamie Martens (Martensville-Blairmore), Sarah Wright (Regina Lakeview), Megan Patterson (Moose Jaw Wakamow), Maureen Torr (Saskatoon Meewasin), and Jon Owojori (Saskatoon Southeast). The party also recently posted a video featuring Prince Albert Northcote MLA Alana Ross.
They are similar to and longer than the recent ad posted by Premier Scott Moe about his hometown of Shellbrook.
The party is facing a higher turnover of candidates this election, with almost half of the slate from 2020 not on the ballot in 2024. The party has nominated 26 new candidates and 27 incumbents. There will be eight more new candidates nominated in the weeks ahead.

WestJet expanding flights in Saskatchewan
The land of the living skies will see an increase in air traffic this winter. There will be more domestic options for air travellers in the province’s two largest cities.
WestJet is expanding its offering in Saskatoon and Regina starting this fall. The company says it represents a 27% expansion of services.
The president and CEO of the Regina Airport Authority James Bogusz said, “it is nothing short of incredible.” He continued, “This means more choices and more opportunities to fly to the cities they are going to in Canada," he said. "And this is on top of a nice slate of sun destinations WestJet is bringing back.”
For the first time, Regina will offer daily service to Vancouver all winter. Saskatoon will also offer daily service. A full breakdown of the flights can be found here.
WestJet recently made news after a strike by airline mechanics.

Regina Mount Royal candidates Trent Wotherspoon and Jaspreet Mander.
Each week leading up to the 2024 election, The SKoop Political Briefing will highlight a constituency that has nominated a candidate from at least both major parties. Today, we look at Regina Mount Royal. Formerly Regina Rosemont, this seat lost some rural ground and is now contained to the Rosemont-Mount Royal neighbourhood and Transcona.
The incumbent: Trent Wotherspoon is the longest-serving New Democrat in caucus having been first elected in 2007 and subsequently re-elected in 2011, 2016, and 2020. He ran for leader in 2013 and 2018 and has been a front-bench opposition member. Before his election, he worked as a teacher.
The challenger: Jaspreet Mander was acclaimed as the Sask. Party candidate. Mander immigrated to Canada in 2005 and established his own trucking business. Mander lives in White City with his family.
The takeaway: This is a safe NDP seat. Wotherspoon has held this riding since 2007 and has consistently elected a New Democrat for decades.
