In his final State of the City address on Tuesday, Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark reflected on Saskatoonâs progress and the cityâs future.
During a fireside chat with Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce CEO Jason Aebig, Clark reflected on his time in the Mayorâs office and and on city council for the past 18 years, and highlighted major initiatives and developments over his time in office, including the population growth of the city, infrastructure projects like a possible new downtown arena, efforts to improve transportation, and challenges facing the city, particularly crime, addictions, and homelessness.
Clark lamented the rise of âpolitics of blameâ, and urged politicians to work to find solutions to problems facing Saskatoon and elsewhere.
His advice to the next mayor? âDonât let the name âYour Worshipâ go to your head,â Clark said, while encouraging the next mayor to make sure they get out of the office and connect with all groups in the city working toward positive change.

Each week leading up to the 2024 election, The SKoop Political Briefing will highlight a constituency that has nominated a candidate from at least both major parties. Today, we look at Saskatoon Churchill-Wildwood. This riding had no change after the provincial boundary commission. The constituency boundaries are south of 8th Street and wedged between Saskatoon Southeast, Eastview, and University-Sutherland. Churchill-Wildwood is primarily residential.
The incumbent: Lisa Lambert was first elected for the Saskatchewan Party in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020. Lambert spent over 30 years working for CTV Saskatoon, is a former school board trustee and cookbook author.
The challenger: The NDP held a contested nomination won by Keith Jorgenson. Jorgenson is a former educator and administrator working with students with disabilities. He also runs a bakery that has become the largest independent bakery in the province.
The takeaway: This is a battleground toss-up. In 2020 Lambert won by just 259 votes, one of the closest races in the province. Under previous iterations, this constituency elected members from all parties including notable centrist figures like Rob Norris and Lynda Haverstock.
